I chose Franz Xavier Winterhalter’s Empress Elisabeth of Austria for an exercise of trying to explore the shapes in an art piece and simplify it.

It sounds easy but sometimes the hardest part is to stop and not add more details. I adored the shape and pose in Winterhalter’s piece, and I wanted to try to replicate the fullness of the dress, the sleeves, and the lace. With the background, I feel like the ambiance is a bit off so you can’t exactly tell what’s going on.
